Day 3

On Day 3 we got on the road early and got home late that night. Our destination was Treasure Island, we never made it there. Our first stop was in Tarpon Springs, sponge capital of the world. It was a Greek tourist town.
We wandered into some shops and checked out the sponges. We were waiting for Tim and his crew to join us. Once they joined us we headed south.

Now remember this crew is famous for stopping at any bar that strikes their fancy along the way. Which is how we ended up at Mahuffers. The sign says it all. I can't even begin to describe this place. There was stuff everywhere.

April and I with some dude we picked up along the way.
Not really, this is Leonard, one of the bar hoppers that was staying at Tims visiting.
About 1 minute after this was taken the table broke and down Leonard went, he was ticked that he spilled his beer.
Fun place, I couldve spent more time there.
After this bar we went to St John's Pass. It was an awesome tourist town. Lots of little shops and tons of tall beautiful hotels. We stopped there and had dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. That wouldn't have been my first choice of restuarants but nobody else had ever been there and they all wanted to try it. I had yummy shrimp.

FINALLY we talked mom into stopping so we could put our feet in the Gulf. It was cold, way to cold to even consider swimming. But so beautiful. They have awesome white sand that feels awesome on your feet.

That was the end of Day 3. We headed home knowing that the next day would be our trip to the Webster flea market and lots and lots of walking.

Day 2

Our day started off with some garage saling. One of my favorite spring time things to do. We went to a couple sales but didn't really find too much. In a previous post I put up a picture of a fabulous house that we went to. Great paint job and eccentric people.
After garage saling mom and Terry took us over to Terry's parents, Jack and Lorraines house. They live on a golf course so of course we had to hit a couple. It is a really nice neighborhood with lots of covered pools and lanais lol. From there we went over to Terrys brother Tims house. Tim and Cheryl had some company from Mi also, Leonard and Ed. More blogs about these fellas later.

Mom and Terry and Tim and Cheryl were great host. They had all kinds of fun things planned for us. They had lots of places they wanted to take us. So we were off. Little did April and I know that the places they wanted to take us were all the little biker bars that they hang out at. I went to more bars this day than I do in a whole year of my life. I must say it was fun, interesting but fun.
I like to say this was our first stop but we hit a flea market before this bar and then we had to beg to go get something to eat. So off we go.
Ok so I'm not sure if this bar/restuarant was called the Freezer or the IceBox cause everyone we were with called it something different. I think it was an old ice house that they turned into a bar. It was a fish market in the front where people brought their coolers and loaded up fresh seafood off the boats.

But in the back there was a bar that sold the best seafood. April and I both had lobster. My first time eating a lobster I was super glad that April was there to show me how to eat it. It was a neat tiki type bar. They only sold beer and I'm pretty sure there was only two people working the bar. You had to go up to the bar to order, there were no waitresses. Your food also came out in styrofoam to go boxes with plastic silverware. And forget someone coming by to ask if everything was ok or to bring you some napkins.

Good Times. We stopped at this destination to see monkeys and manatees.....we did in fact see some monkeys.

It wasn't just called Monkey Island cause thats a great name for a bar. There actually is an island that has monkeys on it. There are four monkeys hanging around on an island in the middle of this lake.

They swear you could see manatees from these bars but we didn't see one. In fact at the infamous trailer park Manatee Bar there was so much oil and gas in the water that I don't think a manatee could've lived in there and there is no way we wouldve been able to see one.

Her expression says it all....wtf am I doing here!

We went to some interesting places on Day 2, places I probably wouldn't have gone into by myself, and it was a fabulous experience. Another day in my moms crazy life.

Day 1

Mom picked April and I up at the Tampa airport, right on time 10 am. She had our day completely planned. First she took us to the Florida Aquarium. She was so excited.

After the aquarium we went over to the international mall. Mom had heard from some friends that this was a very fancy mall. They were right. It was fun wandering around the expensive stores. We enjoyed the $495 shoes and $300 skirt. I loved the Kate Spade store.

This is mom and April at the cheesecake factory. April and I had Orange Chicken and mom had some chicken dish with pasta and pesto. Yummy food, and so much of it that we didn't have room for cheesecake, crazy I know.

Finally Day 1 ended with us resting on the Lanai. I think this is where they spend most of their time. Terry sits at the table and reads the paper and watches tv.
We were so tired that we were in bed by 9. For all that mom had planned for us it was a good thing we started off with a good nights sleep.

A mini post of vacation

There were so many funny pictures from this trip. I thought I would start with these. This dude was at the Webster flea market.
I know, gross right~! Haha we were laughing so hard at this dudes pants. His butt was a bit lopsided.
This is us at a garage sale. We wanted a picture of the house. They had intentionally painted their house like this....and we know this because my mom asked them why the house looked like this. They said cause this is how they painted it, well duh mom. The whole thing was painted like this. It looked like someone gave a 4 year old a brush and a bunch of colors and told them to have at it.
It was a wonderful vacation. I will post more tomorrow and over the weekend. My mom and Terry were wonderful host. She had so much planned for us to do that we were super busy everyday.
It did hurt my heart a little bit realizing just how far away she is. I don't think she'll be coming to MI so it's my job to go to her and thats not easy. What hurts the most is I have no idea when I will see her again.

Do It Right!

So some friends of mine are heading off to Disney in the near future. Conversation has been about footwear. Crocs are the way to go, GO KAYLA!!

I do want to say though that you should wait till you get there and purchase the overpriced Disney crocs. These are Sarah's and she has just about worn them out.

Now knowing Kelli, she would purchase something ridiculous like the above shoes, heels and all.
That being said, you could go barefeet at Disney and still have the best time ever.
Good luck shoe shopping Kayla!
PS They do make the pink Mickey crocs in blue for men, in case Evan was looking to get some snazzy new shoes also.

My Biggest Pet Peeve

We keep most of our snacky snacks on top of the refrigerator; chips, doritios, pretzels, etc. Sometimes I will reach up there and grab a bag and sometimes I find a bag with crumbs. Not enough to even be a handful. No way theres enough for a snack. I have told my dear husband this a thousand and ten times just take the last few and throw the bag away. I don't know if it is a issue with him that he is eating the last of something or what. He laughs about this and I don't think he knows that it really really makes me angry. So tonight when I was putting something away up there I noticed a little bag and I said to myself "Self, there is no way that there is a bag with three mini garlic toasts left. Who would possible do that, who would leave those up there, that is not even enough for a taste!!!!" ARGH!

Jacob not so thrilled that I interrupted his reading time to ask him to hold the bag for me!!

Yes a close up of the three mini pieces of bread that were left up there. Seriously why does he do this when he knows how mad it makes me. Just for that I'm gonna click my pen off and on, off and on, off and on and annoy the heck out of him when he's sitting next to me on the couch.
(for those of you reading this and wondering why I am going on and on about this dumb subject I will tell you...this is my blog and I can write whatever the heck I want to on here and if you don't like it you don't have to read it. I can also question the dumb things that YOU do because this is my blog and I don't really care if you read it or not. Although I would appreciate a comment here or there lmaoooo)
PS I think I'm losing it!

Scrappy Chick Jr.

I spent some time scrapbooking over the weekend. Recently our Friday night scraps kinda fell apart so I was thinking I'd be scrapping alone. Well that might not be the case....turns out Sarah is an expert scrapper. She received a scrap set from her Aunt Allison for Christmas and she was dying to use it. So when I got my stuff out on Saturday she begged to set up too.
She really knows what she's doing.
She loves to write "awesome" on her pages! haha

Her finished product! So proud...

I was trying really hard to get a picture of his oh so cute front tooth...but that dang tongue wouldn't move!
He was sporting his mohawk!
