Nascar, Good Times

Roger Curtis, President of MIS, super nice guy.
I'm so far behind in blogging right now I can't remember what happened when anymore.
Jeremy and I left for Brooklyn on Thursday morning this year.  Nana and Papa came to our house to watch the kids so we didn't have to take them anywhere.  Josh and Allison were already there when we got there, set up and all!
The weather was gorgeous the whole weekend.  High 70's low 80's...heavenly.
Jeff Gordan, "He's just a little guy"
Thursday we decided to make our own bar crawl.  We went to a new bar in Brooklyn that is trying to be a brew pub.  Apparently Josh and Allison had the best pizza ever.  After that we went to one of the yuckiest dive bars I've ever been too.  It was dirty.  I didn't even want to put my elbows on the bar.  Ewwwwww
Next we followed our GPS to "The Beach Bar"
It took a little while but it was very worth it.  Fun place.
I was disappointed that we ate at the first place.  I heard that they had really good clam chowder.
Outside of this place we were told about a ditch that had fish trying to jump over the dam wall.
What?
oh yes, there was a small run off pond full of fish, nasty catfish, sucker loooking fish.  They were trying to jump over the dam wall into the lake.  It was pretty humorous, made more humorous by the numerous drinks we had.
One more bar stop after this and then we went back to the campground.
Changing Danica's tires
This year we went across the street to the actual race area on Saturday to go through the vendors and see what Nascar had to offer.  We took our roller coolers and off we went to sight see.  Adam and Amanda had joined us for a couple days and they hadn't had the chance to go to the gypsies so we went there also.  Lots of good finds at that flea market, let me tell you.
Jim, the grill master
Saturday when we got back to the campgrounds my dad was cooking up his famous bbq.  He smoked and grilled all day.  Dinner was fabulous.
My daughter and I facetiming
Luckily Sarah was able to facetime me all weekend! cough cough
Ryan Newman and his gorgeous eyes
When we went down to the pits on Friday we ran into a bunch of drivers.  It was the first time we had seen Ryan Newman.  Now I've never been a fan of ole cryin Ryan but he has the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen.  And he was super nice.  The above picture is my attempt at a photo of his eyes.  Freakin jerk behnd me lifted his photo up over my head to get him to sign it, totally blocked my photo.
My favorite
All in all it was a great weekend, nice vacation.
Jimmie didn't win this year either.
So close yet so far away, it will happen one year I'm sure of it.
Probably in August when I'm not there.

June Strawberry Picking

Kelli and I and the kids headed out to Tekonsha to do some strawberry picking.
It was early in the season so there were so many to pick.
......and eat!
The kids were doing so good at picking the berries until one of us, I'm not sure who, told them that it was ok to eat some too.  It was all over for Mason and Averie at that point.  They might as well have sat down and just ate.
Mason being the good kid that he was would pick a few, then sit and eat them out of his basket.  So in his mind he sure did help us pick the berries.
Jaxson decided he would like to go for a walk so Sarah spent most of her time pushing the stroller.
She was in heaven.  Averie did decide to help her out a little bit by walking with her.

The whole picking crew.  Jacob did not want his picture taken.  I only got him to cooperate by promising I wouldn't post it on facebook.  Too grown up for a picture with the kids I guess.
I ended up with 8 pints of strawberries.  Everybody helped out and we all went home happy.
I also made jam for the first time, who knew it was so easy.
