Halloween 2009

I went to Riverside today for the kids halloween parties. It sure was hard to be in both classes equally and spend any quality time with them. They didn't seem to mind, lots of fun and candy kept them happy.
Jacob and his mobster costume, showing off at school. He really wanted to take his tommy gun but we figured not appropriate for school. LOL

My lil man Mason, isn't he the cutest lion ever!!
He is the happiest baby, he loves daycare. He gets to see his favorite Ms. Mesha and Ms. Nicole everyday!! Man I love his cheeks.
I've been to the zoo many times and I've seen this little guy numerous times but his head is always turned or tucked in tight and you can't see it. This was the first time he was totally showing himself. Isn't he adorable!! When we volunteered at the zoo last year at Christmas time this little guy had escaped out of his enclosure. He was on lock down for being naughty. The zoo guy said the snow had stacked up around the edges and he just climbed out. Yup I sure did feel safe.

Sarah in front of the CDC display at the zooboo. The horse and carriage turned out so good. It was nice to go to the zooboo with the kids for once and not be working.

The kids at the Binder Park Zooboo with Sugar Bear.

The mobster and Minnie, Sarah's costume is most likely due to the Disney trip. She wanted something to wear for Halloween there and her Nana was able to make this awesome costume. Jacob's costume turned out unbelievably awesome. He couldn't decide what he wanted to be. He and Jeremy thought about it for awhile and once the decision was made, the costume just came together perfectly.

Sarah working hard to get all the guts out!

Jacobs fantastic pumpkin!

ZooBoo fun

So CDC sponsors a booth every year at the Binder Park Zoo's Halloween ZooBoo. And every year my dear friends, Mesha and Rebecca, "volunteer" to come with me to pass out candy. We dress up like princesses and FREEZE to death. We are stationed right next to the cheetah, cougar, tiger, panther, etc. You wouldn't believe some of the things people call this poor creature. Mesha will blog and tell you many more fun stories about our zooboo experiences. I love going and I love seeing the children.

Ms. Rebecca and her lovely princess costume.

Ms. Mesha loves the zooboo and love love loves dressing up for it!

Our friend and companion at the zooboo,
here kitty kitty,
The cheetah
and yes she is super skinny and yes she is the fastest animal and yes she does eat a pack of m&ms if you throw her some from your Halloweeen stash...just kidding we wouldn't do that.

Let's just get it over with!

So here it is....my Disney blog. I really feel like it leaves alot to be desired but I tried really hard to keep it short. Twenty of my favorite things at Disney. These are not in order from most favorite to least. If that was the case 8, 11, and 7 would be closer to the top. I just went through my pictures and tried to find pictures that capture my favorites best. For all you Disney haters (Mesha, Kelli, and Kayla) don't read it I don't care!

1. Dinner at Chef Mickey's
Not the best food but definitely the best atmosphere. The characters come around a lot so it's nice to get pictures while we're in the air conditioning. I enjoy the ride on the monorail to get to the Contemporary Resort from Magic Kingdom for this meal.

2. Yummy Desserts
This one gets two pictures. You can't even imagine the food at Disney. I am so grateful for the Dining Plan because without it we wouldn't eat like we do. The picture above is of my caramel apple. The picture below is of a oreo cookie with chocolate mousse, two of my favorites.

3. Our Pool Day
We always take one day off. LOL Not really a day off because we usually spend it at the pool for the day and then go to Downtown Disney for some shopping. I really think that the kids would spend a lot more time at the pool but I can't stand spending the money and then sitting at the hotel. Maybe next year we'll spend two days at the pool.

4. Carl Fredrickson
Seriously looks just like my grandpa. I got my picture taken with just me and him but it's on our photopass so I'll have to print that one out later. The photographer asked him to pose with just me because he reminded me of someone special, and after our picture he blew me a kiss. So sweet!

5. The Tower of Terror
Love it. There is this fantastic Twlight Zone feel to it. They play creepy music and there is a creepy story. But nothing beats it when the doors open and your looking out over Hollywood Studios and then they close and your dropped down who knows how far. Jacob and Sarah both rode it last year but we couldn't get either one of them to ride it this year. LOL

6. The Shows
High School Musical (above), Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Finding Nemo

and many more.

7. The Castle
Everytime I see it in person, I get tears. Yup make fun if you will but I seriously tear up. And when my mom saw it for the first time this year she cried too. Like mother like daughter.

I heart the castle.

8. Mickey Mouse

He was pretty elusive on this trip. We usually see him alot and we didn't this time. We were lucky enough to have to character dinners with him, one at Chef Mickey's and then again at O'Hana's.

9. The parades.
We don't stop and watch them all the time because this is the perfect opportunity to get on the rides without long lines. But my favorite is the SpectroMagic parade at Magic Kingdom. It is gorgeous.

10. Stitch

Our whole family loves Stitch!

11. The Polynesian
My favorite resort in all of Disney. We have yet to stay there because rooms start out at around $300.00. A girl can dream can't she.

Someday!

12. Fun Hats

Everywhere you look at Disney people are wearing these crazy hats. You would be proud of us when I say that we have never bought one of these hats. We have also never bought the traditional black Mickey ears either. Even though we haven't purchased any for our family I still love to see other families wearing them. Disney is the place where everyone can be silly and nobody cares.

13. The teacups

A sign I may be getting old, I don't like this ride so much anymore. I felt slightly sick after riding with Sarah. Could be because she spins it like a crazy woman. The last time we rode it Jeremy and I made the kids ride with Grandma Turkey and we rode just the two of us. That was much better, unfortunetely for my mom who looked a little green when the ride was done.

14. Halloween at Magic Kingdom
enough said!

15. Pin Trading

Jacob has been doing this since our first year at Disney way back in 2006 (lol) but Sarah really just got into it this year. The kids love trading with the cast members. While my mom was with us she started her own collection.

16. Goofy

He's always so fun with the kids and he always poses with his ears like that.

17. Free pop

It only took us three trips to find the right place but there is a gifty kinda shop sponsored by Coke that you can have all you can drink pop for free. The pop is from all different countries and some of it isn't so good, but its cold and free.

18. Downtown Disney

Mainly the Lego store and TrenD!

19. The Princesses

Yes I'll admit that I wish Sarah loved them more but Im afraid that its usually me that thinks we should stand in line to see them. This was at Akershus in Epcot for our character dinner with, Belle, Snow White, Mulan, Aurora, and Cinderella. Jacob did blush a few times while they all flirted with him.

20. Family Time

The whole family in front of the Tree of Life at animal kingdom.
Well there you have it. Hope this keeps you all happy until we go again next year....yup I said next year. I'm gonna start working on Jeremy cause I promised we would wait two years before we went again, so this has to be his idea.

preview of tomorrows long blog!!

Top 20 Favorite things at Disney
1. Dinner at Chef Mickey's.

Homecoming

What a true BFF, or maybe a wannabe Riverside family! Either way how awesome that April and her two adorable kids, Aaron and Sarah joined us for the walk in the parade. Poor Aaron he barely made it to the end. Cortnie kinda had to drag him those last few blocks. What a trooper.
Riverside PTA president Cortnie and her sister Kathie walking and tossing out candy!

My two beautiful kids in their Riverside attire. I am happy to say we participated everyday in the spirit week activities. I remember when I was in school the fun dress up days we had. While we were sitting up in the stands at the football game watching the homecoming King and Queen being crowned I couldn't help but think 7-10 years down the road and wonder how involved my children will be. Will Jacob be a football player (like his dad) or a drummer in the band? Will Sarah be a pom pon girl (like her mom) or a trumpet player in the band? I don't want to wish these days away but I'm kinda excited to see what will be.

My Poor Old Heart

I miss Disney....

That being said Im not ready to blog about it yet. Yes I know you are totally disappointed about that Mesha but don't you worry it will be very long and very detailed when I do blog about it.

Today we got out our Fall/Halloween decorations. Sarah helped, well she got in the way but she had the best intentions.

This is what she did the most of the time we were supposed to be decorating.

Oh well this one is me, but I did have to join in on the fun a little bit!

We've had a nice long relaxing day today. And this afternoon Cortnie and Kathie stopped over and I was able to give Lauren Sarah's old Minnie Mouse costume and it is sooooo cute on her. I'm so happy that she will be able to use it. Then shortly after they left, my bestest bestest friend Mesha brought me some delish apple crisp.

Yes that is my spoon, yes I will enjoy it very much!
